Back in 2006, Nas initially mentioned the idea of creating a joint album during an interview with Scratch. He expressed his eagerness to collaborate with DJ Premier, saying, “We talked about doing an album together and some of the listeners want to rush the stuff.” Nas continued, “I want to expedite the process, too — but I just want to incorporate elements from various artists for this next venture because many people believe things have become easier, that I have given up.”
