Nickelback Reflects On Internal Band Conflicts

In a recent interview, Nickelback emphasized that when bands engage in feuds, it often results in a situation where “everybody looks stupid.”

The band’s lead vocalist Chad Kroeger clashed with Slipknot’s Corey Taylor in 2017, sparked by Kroeger criticizing Taylor’s other band Stone Sour as a “gimmick.”

During the ‘Rig Biz Podcast’, band members Ryan Peake and Mike Kroeger highlighted the messy nature of such conflicts, attributing it to clashes of egos.

Ryan stated, “We don’t want to go over what you’ve probably already heard.”

Mike added, “It all comes down to personalities.”

Ryan further explained, “When two lead singers clash, it’s like a duel of egos.”

Mike concluded, “Unfortunate words are exchanged from all sides, leading everyone to come across as foolish. It’s really a battle of egos, which can get quite messy.”

Corey Taylor clarified that his grievances are solely with Chad Kroeger and not the entire band Nickelback.

In an interview with Philadelphia’s 93.3 WMMR radio station, Corey expressed, “This incident just reveals the enormity of ego you’re dealing with. I’ve always maintained – it’s not about the band. When this incident happened, the band reached out and apologized, stating, ‘It’s not us, we apologize. It’s this individual. We…’ I’ve interacted with the band before, and they are very friendly guys.

“I hope people don’t blame the band for this, because it’s not about them. It’s the Captain Ego from Planet Douche.”

The dispute arose when Chad Kroeger labeled Stone Sour as “Nickelback lite” in an interview.

Commenting on the conflict, Corey previously remarked, “I’m not interested in talking about that person. Why would I care about what Chad Kroeger says?

“Here’s the thing. I’ll break it down … Chad Kroeger is to rock what KFC is to chicken.

“Is that an unfair comparison? I don’t think so. I might still consume it, but there will be no satisfaction. It’s essentially the same thing.”

Nonetheless, Corey Taylor clarified that his displeasure is directed solely at Chad Kroeger and not the other members of the Canadian band.

He mentioned, “I have excellent relationships with all the other band members; I’ve spent time with them.

“It’s just ‘Face Like A Foot’ with whom I can’t connect. Describe him as having a face like a foot. Am I incorrect?”
