Zayn Malik is embracing a fresh perspective on his highly-anticipated fourth solo album.

The former One Direction member shared that his new tracks, a follow-up to 2021’s ‘Nobody is Listening’, delve into personal emotions, including feelings of sadness inspired by real-life experiences, particularly those involving his two-year-old daughter Khai with supermodel Gigi Hadid.

During an interview on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast, Zayn expressed, “I’ve included some really melancholic songs this time.

“It’s a departure from my usual sound, incorporating more narrative elements and drawing from personal experiences.

“My daughter is even referenced in some of the lyrics.”

Zayn is gearing up to drop the single ‘Love Like This’ on July 21.

According to the artist, “It’s a feel-good summer track. It exudes those summertime vibes.”

Despite battling anxiety related to live performances, the 30-year-old musician remains optimistic about conquering his fears to grace the stage for his fans.

He shared, “I still feel the nerves because it’s been a while since my last live show. But I have this drive and a desire to share my talent with audiences again. That’s my goal.”

Zayn has yet to headline a major solo concert due to his severe stage fright, which previously led to the cancellation of planned gigs. However, his passion for performing and connecting with his supporters has always been unwavering.

In a 2019 tweet, he expressed his eagerness to perform: “Can’t wait to hit the stage! I’ve got some amazing tracks in store! Feeling ready!”

The ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’ singer, who parted ways with One Direction in March 2015, acknowledged that his anxiety about live shows stemmed from a struggle to create a solo performance that felt genuine, especially with only one solo album, ‘Mind of Mine’, under his belt at the time.

He clarified, “There were a lot of upbeat dance tracks on the record, but I’m not a dancer. This would have required choreography and added performers, which wasn’t in line with my vision at the time.”

Zayn emphasized the importance of authenticity in his work, while hoping fans understand that his intentions are rooted in staying true to himself rather than appearing conceited.

He stated, “I only pursue projects that resonate with me. I aim to convey this to others, hoping they see that it’s not about arrogance, but about being genuine.”
